IPSWICH REGIONAL CENTRE STRATEGY

Consultation

The Ipswich Regional Centre Strategy has been developed through extensive community and stakeholder consultations, technical analysis, and expert assessments by representatives from Council and State Government. At each stage, the Steering Committee (including Council and State Government) and an independent Panel of Experts reviewed emerging outcomes. Through the Ipswich Centre Taskforce, government, business and community partners provided strategic guidance and confirmed future directions at each stage.

Key highlights have included:

  • Project launch in May 2007 for business, community, and key stakeholders
  • Community Vox Pop Video of community aspirations and visions for Ipswich City Centre (visit What's New tab for download)
  • An Ipswich Regional Centre Strategy Office was established, staffed by officers from Council, the Department of Infrastructure and Planning and the consultant team. Information and updates regarding the strategy were available at the office.
  • Stakeholders Forums were held on three occasions to inform the development of the strategy
  • Enquiry by Design intensive Forum (23rd - 28th of July 2007) The Enquiry by Design (EBD) forum brought together over 80 stakeholders from the Ipswich community, business, industry and government.
